To those who are interested in choosing Yasushi Asami as a supervisor:

Basically I consider admitting foreign students to my research unit, if they have scholarship, such as Monbu-Kagaku-Sho (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, Japanese Government) Scholarship (by applying directly to the Department of Urban Engineering or to the Japanese Embassy in your country), ADB (Asian Development Bank) Scholarship, or any other competitive scholarship with decent amount of living expense.  (This is to confirm that my students can focus on graduate studies without fearing from the shortage in living expense.)

 

If you consider enrolling in master course, give me information on the following items:

1) c.v. (curriculum vitae)

2) Scholarship you have (or are now applying)

3) Research Plan: The research topic should be specific enough.  For example, city planning and housing policy are not specific enough.  The plan should include: background of the topic or problem, research aim, proposed research methodology, expected research results, possible extensions (if any)

4) Academic records

5) Published papers, if any

 

If you consider enrolling in doctoral course, give me information on the following items:

1) c.v. (curriculum vitae)

2) Scholarship you have (or are now applying)

3) Research Plan: The research topic should be specific enough.  For example, city planning and housing policy are not specific enough.  The plan should include: background of the topic or problem, research aim, proposed research methodology, expected research results, possible extensions (if any)

5) Published papers (both refereed and non-refereed):  At least one refereed paper is strongly preferred.
